Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are shaped from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe using a method similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in cloth. This approach resulted in the elegant structure where the moulded back and arms part is supported by a simple A-frame wooden dowel framework. One of the advantages of this design is greater comfort due to the natural flexibility in the plywood back.
