Description / Specs
Finished in black, the Genelec 8361A is a point-source monitor for professional audio use in nearfield or midfield settings. It features a coaxial design housing its midrange driver, treble tweeter, and dual 10.6” woofers in one location, aligning their acoustic axes and ensuring an accurate sonic radiation point. The monitor accepts both analog and digital AES/EBU signals from separate XLR jacks, using Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) technology to automatically detect the type of audio input. It offers a frequency response of 36 Hz to 20 kHz (±1.5 dB), with a maximum SPL of 124 dB at 0.5m, or 118 dB at 1m.
To coordinate multiple 8361As, you can use Genelec’s GLM software to tune your monitor to your room, facilitate and coordinate daisy-chaining monitors, override the ISS function, and more. Routing is done via a few Cat5 cables and a GLM adapter, sold separately. An XLR output jack is also available for sending identical copies of incoming AES/EBU signals to other monitors.
DIP switches and a rotary level control are provided on the rear of the monitor for offline use. Use these switches to tune the monitors to your room without DSP if you prefer. An Iso-Pod stand is included to help isolate from acoustically harmful surfaces. Other features, such as the 8361A’s acoustically concealed woofers, minimum diffraction coaxial design, and proprietary waveguide, are detailed in the features section.
