Description / Specs
The MOTU 828x is a hybrid audio interface featuring Thunderbolt and USB 2.0 connectivity, high-powered DSP effects and mixing, 28 inputs, 30 outputs, and 32-bit floating point processing.
This highly versatile interface can be used in studio or live settings, with or without a computer, either as a standalone mixer or a dedicated interface. The DSP section is available in both configurations. Although each of the 828x’s inputs is analog, they benefit from digital control power—including trim controls adjustable in 1dB steps.
Like its 828 mk3 counterpart, the 828x includes powerful diagnostic tools for visually monitoring input signals in various ways. This includes an FFT display, waterfall display, oscilloscope, X-Y plot, and both linear and polar analysis graphs.
Another advantage of the 828x is its ability to operate independently from a computer as a standalone mixer, with the effects section still accessible. Regarding effects, the unit features a 7-band parametric EQ distinctly modeled after classic British EQ consoles. Users can choose between two compression modes: the leveler, essentially a model of the LA-2A, and a more traditional compressor.
All this and more is available in this comprehensive interface, making it a powerful addition to any home or professional studio setup.
